A foundation born from living with the disease
La Fondation H.DJIDJA est une association sans but lucratif enregistrée en Belgique et en France, et reconnue en République de Guinée. Sa mission : améliorer l'accès aux soins de santé modernes pour les populations vulnérables, avec un accent particulier sur la drépanocytose, le diabète de type 1 et 2 et les rhumatismes.
Stichting H.DJIDJA is een vereniging zonder winstoogmerk die in België en Frankrijk is geregistreerd en in de Republiek Guinee is erkend. Haar missie: de toegang tot moderne gezondheidszorg verbeteren voor kwetsbare bevolkingsgroepen, met bijzondere aandacht voor sikkelcelziekte, diabetes type 1 en 2 en reuma.
The H.DJIDJA Foundation is a non-profit organisation registered in Belgium and France, and recognised in the Republic of Guinea. Its mission: to improve access to modern healthcare for vulnerable populations, with particular focus on sickle cell disease, type 1 and 2 diabetes and rheumatic conditions.
Ces pathologies figurent parmi les principales causes de morbidité chronique en Guinée. L'accès au dépistage précoce, à la prise en charge spécialisée et au suivi à long terme y reste très limité, en particulier hors de Conakry. Des patients sont encore laissés à même le sol, faute de places, de moyens ou de personnel spécialisé.
Deze aandoeningen behoren tot de belangrijkste oorzaken van chronische ziektelast in Guinee. De toegang tot vroegtijdige opsporing, gespecialiseerde zorg en langdurige opvolging blijft er zeer beperkt, zeker buiten Conakry. Patiënten liggen er soms nog op de grond, bij gebrek aan plaats, middelen of gespecialiseerd personeel.
These conditions are among the leading causes of chronic illness in Guinea. Access to early screening, specialised care and long-term follow-up remains very limited, particularly outside Conakry. Patients are still left lying on the floor for lack of beds, resources or specialised staff.
Face à ce constat, la Fondation s'appuie sur son ancrage en Guinée (Afrique de l'Ouest), en France et en Belgique pour créer un centre de référence régional, capable de répondre durablement à ces besoins tout en formant une nouvelle génération de professionnels de santé guinéens.
Daarom bouwt de Stichting voort op haar verankering in Guinee (West-Afrika), Frankrijk en België om een regionaal referentiecentrum op te richten, dat duurzaam aan deze noden kan beantwoorden en tegelijk een nieuwe generatie Guinese zorgverleners opleidt.
In response, the Foundation draws on its roots in Guinea (West Africa), France and Belgium to create a regional centre of reference, able to meet these needs sustainably while training a new generation of Guinean health professionals.
Ce projet est né d'un parcours personnel : celui d'une infirmière qui a vécu la maladie de l'intérieur. Je suis moi-même drépanocytaire, et j'ai choisi d'en faire un combat collectif.
Dit project komt voort uit een persoonlijk traject: dat van een verpleegkundige die de ziekte van binnenuit heeft ervaren. Ik heb zelf sikkelcelziekte, en ik heb ervoor gekozen er een collectieve strijd van te maken.
This project grew out of a personal journey: that of a nurse who has lived the disease from within. I have sickle cell disease myself, and I chose to turn it into a collective fight.

Une maladie génétique du sang qui déforme les globules rouges en forme de faucille, empêchant une bonne circulation de l'oxygène dans le corps. Elle provoque des douleurs intenses (crises), de la fatigue et des complications qui touchent particulièrement les personnes originaires d'Afrique, des Caraïbes et du Moyen-Orient.
Een erfelijke bloedziekte die de rode bloedcellen vervormt tot een sikkelvorm, waardoor zuurstof zich minder goed door het lichaam verplaatst. Ze veroorzaakt hevige pijn (crisissen), vermoeidheid en complicaties, en treft vooral mensen met roots in Afrika, het Caribisch gebied en het Midden-Oosten.
An inherited blood disorder that distorts red blood cells into a sickle shape, restricting the flow of oxygen through the body. It causes intense pain (crises), fatigue and complications, and particularly affects people of African, Caribbean and Middle Eastern descent.

A general term for conditions affecting the joints, muscles and bones, causing pain, stiffness and inflammation. They can reduce mobility and quality of life, particularly among older people.

Type 1 and type 2 diabetes
Le type 1 est une maladie auto-immune où le corps ne produit plus d'insuline, apparaissant souvent dès l'enfance. Le type 2, plus fréquent, survient quand le corps résiste à l'insuline ou n'en produit pas assez, souvent lié au mode de vie et à l'alimentation.
Type 1 is een auto-immuunziekte waarbij het lichaam geen insuline meer aanmaakt; ze treedt vaak al op in de kindertijd. Type 2 komt vaker voor en ontstaat wanneer het lichaam insulineresistent wordt of te weinig insuline aanmaakt, vaak in verband met levensstijl en voeding.
Type 1 is an autoimmune condition in which the body no longer produces insulin, often appearing in childhood. Type 2, more common, occurs when the body becomes resistant to insulin or produces too little, often linked to lifestyle and diet.

Een regionaal referentiepunt voor preventie, opsporing, behandeling en opleiding van medisch personeel, opgezet om het Guinese gezondheidssysteem duurzaam te versterken. Het terrein ligt in de wijk Sanoya.
